Happy Thurby Day – Your Guide to Cinco de Derby! | South Shore Moms

THE MOST EXCITING TWO MINUTES IN SPORTS!

One of the fun parts about the Kentucky Derby is the actual betting. Make sure you do your homework and pick a horse. Unlike me, who picks the best name. You can guess which one I’m going with…

Don’t miss the excitement!

Start with the hat. This is a chance for us New Englanders to play Southern Belle. So, definitely start with the hat! There are so many fun (and outrageous) options. GO ALL OUT!  The hardest part is finding or creating the perfect hat. Decide on the style first. Keep in mind that all of the “decor” (think: flowers, ribbon, etc.)  should be added to the front. Since it also happens to be Cinco de Mayo, go bold and bright! Color is key. If you’re shopping online, popping into a local flower shop to have them work with an existing hat you love or shopping at Michael’s to DIY from scratch, just remember, that the most flattering style for this occassion is the turned down brim hat.
