Where are you from originally?
I’m originally from India and moved to Europe when I was 19 to study fashion — a decision that completely changed my life. What started as chasing a creative dream turned into an adventure that took me all over the world — from Japan and China to Italy, Spain, and the UK. Each place added a new layer to how I see art, culture, and community. When I moved to the U.S., the South Shore instantly felt like home. There’s something about the mix of creativity, kindness, and community here that feels right.
Tell us about your family!
My husband, Sumit, and I live in Hingham with our four-year-old son, Yuvraj, but everyone calls him Yuvi. He’s full of life, obsessed with monster trucks, trains, and paint. He’s my little shadow at the studio — usually with paint on his hands, snack crumbs on his shirt.
How did you start your business?
The Boston Artistry really started as me trying to figure out how to blend my love for art and fashion in a way that felt sustainable — and honestly, mom-friendly. After fifteen years of working for global fashion brands, I missed the hands-on part of creating. I wanted to slow down, make things that meant something, and still be there for my little one.
So, I rented this tiny space where I could paint and make custom pieces to sell online — just me, some paints, and way too many ideas. Before long, friends started stopping by, asking if their teens could paint with me, or if we could host a fun moms’ night out where everyone could make something together. I said yes (of course!) and suddenly that quiet little corner turned into this lively, happy place full of creativity and laughter.
That’s when it hit me — it wasn’t about selling art anymore, it was about sharing it. The Boston Artistry became a space where people could connect, create, and just feel good. Now it’s this colorful, joy-filled studio where kids, teens, and adults come to design sneakers, totes, jackets — anything they can dream up. It’s messy, it’s fun, and it’s full of life — just how art should be.
Where do you now call home and how long have you lived there?
We’ve been in Hingham for a few years now, and it feels like the place we were meant to be. The community is warm and welcoming, and there’s so much creativity around. It’s a great town with a big heart.
What’s your favorite part about living in the South Shore?
The people. There’s a real sense of community here that I’ve never experienced anywhere else. People show up, they support local, and they care about each other.
What family activity do you enjoy most?
Anything that involves getting a little messy! We love painting together in the backyard, going for walks, or heading to the beach.
What’s your favorite part about the work you do?
It’s the smiles. When a child finishes painting their sneakers or a parent says, “I didn’t know I could do that,” it’s the best feeling. Watching people realize they’re creative — that’s my favorite part.
Are you involved with any community or volunteer work?
Yes! I love collaborating with local schools, PTOs, and recreation departments to bring art programs to kids and families across the South Shore. We also love supporting local fundraisers and events. Community connection is at the heart of everything I do.
What’s the toughest part about being a working mom?
Finding balance. Some days I’m answering emails while holding a paintbrush and helping Yuvi build a Lego tower. It’s beautiful chaos, but it’s our life, and I’m grateful for it.
What’s the best advice you’ve received as a mom?
You don’t have to do it all. Be present, not perfect. The small, ordinary moments are the ones that end up meaning the most.
What’s your best advice for a new mom?
Give yourself grace. There’s no one right way to do this — love your child and yourself through it all.
Something people would be surprised to know about you?
I used to design footwear for global fashion brands and now spend my days helping kids design their first pair of sneakers. It’s funny how life comes full circle. Oh, and I eat dessert before dinner whenever I can.
A quote or mantra you live by?
“Scatter joy and see what grows.” It’s actually the inspiration for one of our murals and truly how I try to live every day.
Your favorite local spots for:
Date night: Tosca — always cozy and delicious.
Coffee break: Red Eye Roasters — they’re my creative recharge spots.
Workout: Long Walks and, honestly, just chasing Yuvi around.
New outfit: Local Hingham boutiques — I love supporting small, creative businesses.
Self-care or me time: Painting quietly at the studio with music playing and maybe a Birdie cookie on the side.
Anything else you’d love to share?
The Boston Artistry is truly my happy place. It’s not just an art studio — it’s a space where creativity, community, and fun come together. Everything we make has a second life — sneakers you can wear, totes you can carry, sports balls or jackets you can show off. Art doesn’t have to stay on the wall. It can go wherever you do.
