We’ve all heard that meditation and yoga can reduce stress for us moms, but what about playtime? Coloring

Coloring is not just for kids! According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are lots of benefits for adults, from de-stressing to bringing a sense of peace. It relaxes the brain and is like a meditative experience for some. Here are some of the best coloring books for adults via Reader’s Digest.

Kinetic Sand

Once you look past the mess it makes all over the house, you might find that kinetic sand is quite therapeutic for grown-ups. New York magazine has raved about its sensory pleasures and little ones can’t seem to get enough of it. For something extra fun, head into NYC this weekend to check out a free art exhibit by Vietnamese artist Dan Lam that actually invites guests to play with the installations — all made of, you guessed it, Kinetic Sand — in an exhibit showcasing the aspects of sensory play both as a creative outlet and stress-reliever for adults and kids alike.

Jigsaw Puzzles

Lots of time at home over the last year and a half led us to rediscover a love of puzzles. And turns out they’re great for the brain — studies have shown that doing jigsaw puzzles can improve cognition and visual-spatial reasoning, and improve short-term memory and problem solving. If you’ve already completed all your old puzzles check out this list of this year’s best puzzles for adults and where to buy them.
