Nature Art Night

February 15 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Ephemeral art is art that only lasts for a short amount of time. Often this art is created using natural materials that are then returned to the earth where they came from. The concept derives from natural phenomena, such as spring ephemeral wildflowers, which are generally short-lived plants that only grow during brief favorable periods.

This nature art night is inspired by contemporary ephemeral artists, such as Andy Goldsworthy and Sister Golden. Participants will create their masterpieces using all-natural materials including twigs, leaves, moss, lichen, flowers, and more. After arranging the items on paper to create a beautiful scene, participants will have the opportunity to photograph their creations before returning all the materials to nature. That’s right… no glue will be used and everything will be returned to nature where it was found!

All necessary materials will be provided, however, participants are welcome to bring their own dried flowers, seeds, and other natural materials to supplement. Hot chocolate and light refreshments will be provided.

  • Thursday, February 15 | 6:30pm-7:30pm
  • Open to participants ages 18+
  • Free for South Shore Y members, $12 for non-members
