LightWork’s Approach to Supporting Moms on the South Shore - South Shore Moms

Women deserve a space designed for them — by women who truly understand.

Motherhood brings joy, change, responsibility, and a kind of emotional intensity that can be hard to explain unless you’ve lived it. Whether you’re navigating the early postpartum months, chasing toddlers, or juggling big-kid schedules, many moms find themselves holding more than they ever expected.

Here on the South Shore—where life moves fast and families are constantly on the go—it’s easy for moms to take care of everyone except themselves.

That’s where LightWork Therapy & Recovery in Braintree comes in. Created for women, by women, LightWork offers a supportive environment where women can exhale, make space for their own needs, and reconnect with their emotional wellbeing. Their second location in Woburn offers the same approach for women north of the city.

A Space Designed Entirely for Women

LightWork is built around a simple but important belief:
When women are understood and supported, they thrive.

From the moment you walk in, it’s clear that this space was thoughtfully shaped by women who understand the mental, emotional, and relational challenges that come with motherhood. The groups are women-only, which naturally creates an environment where moms don’t have to explain, justify, or downplay what they’re feeling. There’s an ease and honesty that comes from being with other women who “get it.”

Support for the Realities of Motherhood

LightWork sees women at many different points in their journey—new moms navigating postpartum emotions, women experiencing anxiety or burnout, and others simply trying to stay afloat amidst daily responsibilities.

Common reasons women seek support include:

  • Postpartum emotional or mood changes
  • Persistent worry or anxiety
  • Overwhelm, burnout, or mental exhaustion
  • Identity shifts or feeling “not like yourself”
  • Relationship and communication stress
  • The invisible mental load of balancing work, home, and family

There’s no one way to be a mom, and there’s no one way to feel supported. LightWork meets women wherever they are.

Structured Support: PHP and IOP Programs

LightWork offers two levels of structured mental health support:

  • PHP (Day Treatment Program) – A more immersive, daytime program offering multiple therapy sessions per day in a supportive, women-centered environment.
  • IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) – A step down from PHP, offering several sessions per week with enough flexibility to fit around work, school schedules, or family responsibilities.

While these are clinical program types, LightWork delivers them in a way that feels accessible and human. Women receive a blend of:

  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Skills for stress and emotion management
  • Support with boundaries and relationships
  • Mindfulness tools for daily overwhelm
  • A community of women moving through similar chapters

It’s structured care with a lot of heart — consistent support without losing the warmth and connection moms often crave.

Part of the South Shore Community

LightWork’s Braintree location is central for women throughout the South Shore, including Quincy, Milton, Weymouth, Hingham, Braintree, and surrounding communities. It’s a comfortable, welcoming setting that feels rooted in the needs of local families.

And for women closer to Boston or the North Shore, the Woburn location offers the same women-led, women-focused model.

A Supportive Step Forward

Many women who come to LightWork share a similar story:
They reached a point where they realized they needed space to focus on themselves — not out of weakness, but out of strength.

LightWork provides that space. A place to regroup, reconnect, and move forward with greater clarity and support.
