Meet a Mom: Alex Racicot Founder of Piece of Cake Business Solutions - South Shore Moms

Meet a Mom Monday! I am so excited to introduce this amazing, hardworking momma Alex Racicot, founder and owner of Piece of Cake Business Solutions. After ten years in corporate operations and executive assistant roles, Alex made the jump to being an entrepreneur and created Piece of Cake Business Solutions. She is bringing ease to the busy lives of individuals around her. On top of being an entrepreneur, Alex is a mom two children under five and a 170lb Great Dane, yes you read that right. Continuing reading below to learn more about Alex’s business and what she is currently listening to on Spotify.

Where are you from originally?
Easton, MA until 18 then spent 4 years in North Andover, MA to obtain two Bachelor’s degrees from Merrimack College (Go MACK! ) and a little under two years in Boston to continue on for a graduate degree as a husky at Northeastern where I met my husband and we came back to the South Shore to put down roots.

Tell us about your family! How many kids, names/ages?
My husband Kevin is from Bridgewater and is a Marine Corps veteran
My daughter Adelaide (Addie) is five (just started Kindergarten)
My son Beckham is three
…and we have a 170 lb. four-year-old Great Dane named Brewster (he is a bit of a town staple-see image attached)

How did you start your business?
After the birth of my second child in 2021, I started focusing on my own health and well-being. As I started to meet other women at a local gym, I quickly learned I was not the only female overloading my plate. Many of us are small business owners while balancing full time careers, being household managers, extracurricular taxi cab drivers, caregivers to extended family and have even taken on the occasional unexpected role of pet groomers. The list could simply go on… Piece of Cake was born as I saw an opportunity to bring ease to the busy lives of the individuals around me as I always have held a true passion for organization. With a Master’s degree in Corporate and Organizational Communication, I made the jump to an entrepreneur after 10 years in corporate operations and executive assistant roles to take on what you may consider daunting (but essential!) administrative tasks instead of watching your workload and to do list pile up.

Where do you now call home and how long have you lived there?
West Bridgewater, MA and almost six years we have lived here. We moved to town when I was 33 weeks pregnant. My husband actually didn’t even see our house on the inside until the day we moved in, we had put in so many offers and had so many failed inspections we never thought we actually get the house but we did and will raise our kids here until they graduate high school.

What is your favorite part about living in the South Shore?
The ability to be at a beach or city within 30 minutes of our house, we get the best of both worlds! My kids have had their toes in the water on the beach and at a show in the city all in the same day!

What family activity do you enjoy most?
We love to go to car shows as a family but really any event where we can bring our  dog! If we get a free weekend we love to do weekends away locally – New Hampshire, Newport, Mystic to name a few.

What is your favorite part about the work you do?
I feel like I am freeing up time in a working mom’s calendar so she can spend more time being there with her kids or for herself.

Are you involved with any non-profits or do any volunteering?
We are very involved with Wounded Warrior Project and my husband ran a local town animal shelter for three years so we did a lot of fundraising and adoption events for the animals there.

What do you find to be the toughest part about being a working mom?
Making time for “fun” and still enjoying myself. If I am not working, I am with my family but I really have made an effort to still go out with girlfriends for a martini and laugh or go to a concert. One of my friends just took me to my first one in 5 years and I forgot what I was missing!

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
I think a quote that always resonated with me a mom once told me was “the days pass slow but the years fly.” I think when you’re in the thick of motherhood (I had two under two) just getting to the next hour is tough but now I look back like how did my daughter start Kindergarten already?

What is your best advice for a new mom?
Find time to take care of YOU and train your mind that time invested in yourself is truly you investing in your children because I see I parent better when I am mentally and physically happy with myself.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
My first job at 16 was being the cashier at a local Burger King, I never thought I say it but having to communicate with the public at such a young age taught me skills that made me successful and fearless as I grew into a young adult.

Is there a Quote or mantra you live by?
“Work hard, play hard” was my high school year book quote and I live by it still to this day!

Your go-to Pandora/Spotify/Apple Music station?
VERY into Tate McRae lately (I know I am too old to like her but) she is such a triple threat – dancer, singer and plays numerous instruments.

Your favorite local spot for: date night, coffee break, workout, new outfit, self-care, “me time”
Date Night: Summer – ALBA Rooftop and tie between Crossing Nines, Winter – Mason’s Steakhouse (By it broken out by season can you tell I am a boujee foodie, what can I say?!)
Coffee Break:  The Beanery on Washington
Workout: Healthy Hustle Fitness in Easton really taught me how to lift and love myself again and it is women owned
New Outfit: Amazon (don’t come for me hehe) I am busy and it is convenient!
Self-Care: Cindi’s Hair Studio in East Bridgewater, MA
“me time”: Walking my dog around town with my headphones on

Anything else you’d love to share?
