Meet a Mom: Kaylee Costa, Founder of Costa Consultation - South Shore Moms

Happy Monday, South Shore! I am so excited to start to bring back our “Meet a Mom Mondays” and what better way to start it by featuring Kaylee Costa, Founder and Owner of Costa Consultation here on the South Shore. She provides evidence-based care for pregnancy, postpartum, lactation and early nutrition. Kaylee offers an array of services including but not limited to; clinical lactation support, pediatric nutrition support, and prenantal and postnatal pilates. On top of running her own business she is a mother to an eighteen month old and a step-mother to her daughter. She grew up here in Massachusetts in Somerville. Lets dive in and get to know Kaylee a bit more!

Tell us about your family:
My family is my husband Rodrigo, our 18 month old daughter Kaia, my stepdaughter Luiza, and our chonky cat Dodo. They’re my whole world

How did you start your business?
I started my practice in 2018 by teaching Pilates. Over time it grew into something more holistic. I began offering reiki and reflexology, and eventually added clinical lactation care. I now provide lactation consults and am starting solids guidance as an IBCLC. The path has unfolded naturally through my own experience as a mom and my desire to support others.

Where do you now call home and how long have you lived there?
We live in Quincy, Massachusetts and we absolutely love it. Quincy moms are the best. They are the village they don’t even know I have.

What is your favorite part about living in the South Shore?                                                                                                                              Definitely the community. During pregnancy and postpartum I leaned on so many moms, most of them complete strangers. They offered support that helped carry me through some of the hardest seasons of my life. There is something special about how moms in the South Shore show up for one another.

What family activity do you enjoy most?
We love singing and dancing. We’re always breaking out into a dance party or singing whatever song is stuck in our heads. It keeps things light and fun and has become such a sweet part of our family rhythm.

What is your favorite part about the work you do?
Making care accessible for everyone. I know how hard it can be to find support that feels both helpful and affordable, especially in the early weeks and months. I’ve worked hard to get
credentialed with major insurance plans and offer a sliding scale for families who need it. Every parent deserves support they can actually use.

Are you involved with any non-profits or do any volunteering?
Yes, I help run a few local Buy Nothing pages. These groups were a lifeline for me when I was pregnant and newly postpartum. With the exception of my husband and daughter, I don’t have family and the kindness of strangers made a huge difference. Now I use those same groups to support my clients. If a parent I’m working with needs postpartum items, baby gear, or household essentials, I ask the community and someone always steps up. It has been a full-circle way of giving back.

What do you find to be the toughest part about being a working mom?
Comparing myself to other moms. I don’t know if everyone feels this way or if it’s just me, but I constantly worry that I’m not doing enough. It’s something I carry with me even
on the best days.

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
Babies don’t need perfection. They need presence. That reminder helps me come back to what really matters.

What is your best advice for a new mom?
Let people help you. You don’t have to do this alone. Accepting support doesn’t mean you’re not strong, it means you’re human. And you deserve to feel cared for too.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Most people assume I’m outgoing and confident, but I’m actually very shy. I overthink everything and get nervous in group settings. I just care a lot and want to show up well for
the people around me.

Is there a quote or mantra you live by?
Come as you are, not as you think you should be. It helps me stay grounded and real.

Your go-to Pandora, Spotify, or Apple Music station?
I still listen to the radio. My go-to is 92.5 The River. It’s my favorite.

Your favorite local spot?
We love Quincy and spend most of our time here. For stroller walks, Pageant Field is our favorite. For date nights, Alba and Assembly are our go-tos. Quincy has something for
every mood and moment.

Anything else you’d love to share?
Just how much it means to be part of a community that supports moms and small businesses. I don’t take that for
granted.
