I founded The Playful Place in 2021, providing in-home services for children with Autism during Covid. Through supporting my clients in mainstream daycare settings—and drawing from my experience working in traditional ABA centers—I began to see a significant gap in services in this area. I worked for one special company in the Metrowest area who shared similar views and values as I did and was able to lean on the owner, Janine, to help me bring my visions to the South Shore. There wasn’t a space specifically designed for children with autism that combined clinical knowledge with joy, peer connection, and genuine belonging. I envisioned a place where children could learn and grow alongside peers of a similar age. A place staffed by well-trained, knowledgeable, and deeply compassionate professionals who truly understand diverse needs. Most importantly, I wanted to create an environment where children feel safe, happy, supported—and where therapy doesn’t feel like therapy, rather than a normal day of play. The Playful Place was created to be that space: structured yet fun, supportive yet empowering, and always centered on the unique strengths of every child.
Where do you now call home and how long have you lived there?Duxbury, Massachusetts. I have lived here since 2021.What is your favorite part about living on the South Shore?
I love being so close to everything. I love being a few blocks away from the Ocean, a short back road drive to the area I grew up in, or a quick commute into the city. I love the support the South Shore community has provided me in such a short time. What family activity do you enjoy most?
We are a big boating family! If you know my husband, you know that if it’s a day over 70 degrees, we are on the water! I love finding a good iced coffee and going on walks with the baby, my girl friends and the pups! I am also from a very close family. I have a brother and sister who live within 10 minutes from me. Between the three of us we have 6 girls under the age of 6 so anything we do together is always fun!
What is your favorite part about the work you do?
I love meeting new families and seeing the joy we bring to their children. Not to be biased, but we truly get to work with some of the cutest kiddos on the South Shore! Watching the progress they make — big or small — is what fuels me to keep going every day. I also feel incredibly lucky to have such an amazing team at The Playful Place. The women I work alongside are caring, selfless, and dedicated, and so much of our success is thanks to them.
What do you find to be the toughest part about being a working mom?
One of the biggest challenges for me as a working mom is giving Scarlett enough one-on-one, distraction-free time. I’m lucky that right now I can bring her to work with me — she loves being around the kids — but on admin days, it’s hard to be behind a computer while she watches me.
The best part of being a working mom, though, is the perspective it’s given me. I now have a whole new appreciation for the parents whose children come to The Playful Place. I see firsthand the balancing act they’re managing, and it makes me even more grateful for the trust they place in us.
What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
Time moves fast.. Seriously too fast. Babies don’t stay little for long. Find moments to soak in their giggles, curiosity, and hugs.
What is your best advice for a new mom?
Life will feel different, sometimes overwhelming, but somehow better. Lean into it instead of resisting the change.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m a very relaxed person with a big heart, a bit messy and will always figure things out.
Is there a Quote or mantra you live by?
Never take life too seriously.
Your go-to Pandora/Spotify/Apple Music station?
Teddy Swims, Jack Johnson, & John Mayer Radio are at the top of my list always!
Your favorite local spot for: date night, coffee break, workout, new outfit, self-care, “Me Time”
We love the Chestnut Street Grill for fried pickles, Blue Fish River Tavern for the most delicious bread pudding, Dairy Twist for a late night treat! Highly recommend walking the Duxbury bridge for a much needed reset.
Anything else you’d love to share?
I’d love to emphasize the importance of trusting your instincts and following your heart. Both in motherhood and in the business world.
