Where are you from originally?
I am originally from Michigan, but moved to Nashville, TN in 2015! I spent 10 wonderful years there before moving to Massachusetts.

Tell us about your family! How many kids, names/ages?
I have one son, David, who is 8 years old. He is a typical 8-year-old boy who loves playing football and video games, and he is a blossoming artist. He certainly keeps me on my toes! We feel so lucky to have found a school where he hastruly flourished this year. He currently attends a Quincy public school.

How did you start your business?
I started my journey with The Gardner School the same way many moms do—by searching for quality care for my own child. In July 2018, I was looking for a school for my then 8-month-old son, and as someone with a background in early childhood education, I immediately felt how special The Gardner School was. Even though I wasn’t looking for a new job at the time, I fell in love with the school, its philosophy, and the way families were truly supported. I understood firsthand the emotional weight of finding a place you trust with your child, and that experience deeply resonated with me. Shortly after, I joined the administrative team, and by the summer of 2019, I moved on to lead my own school as an Executive School Director—turning a personal need into a meaningful career rooted in supporting families and children every day.

Where do you now call home and how long have you lived there?
I now call Quincy, MA home! I moved here Summer of 2024 to help facilitate the opening of the first Gardner School in Massachusetts, The Gardner School of Braintree.

What is your favorite part about living in the South Shore?
As a Michigan girl who grew up surrounded by water, being landlocked for ten years was definitely a challenge. Living on the South Shore has felt like coming home in that way. I love being so close to the water—whether I’m driving into the city or picking up my son from aftercare, I’m treated to the most beautiful views. There’s a perfect balance of coastal charm and everyday living here, and being so close to Cape Cod makes it feel like a mini vacation without being far from home. What’s made it even more special is the strong sense of community I’ve found—it truly feels like a place where families belong.

What family activity do you enjoy most?
Since moving here, we’ve developed a new love for the outdoors. Spending time walking the beaches or going on small hikes through the woods has become one of our favorite ways to be together as a family. We also love quieter moments at home, especially crafting with my son. He’s recently joined me in my junk journaling adventures, and those creative, unhurried moments—laughing, creating, and making memories together—are truly what dreams are made of.

What is your favorite part about the work you do?
The most rewarding part of my work is supporting families during such an important and formative season of their lives. Knowing that parents trust us with their children is something I never take lightly, and being part of a journey that helps shape confident, curious learners is incredibly meaningful to me—especially as a mom myself. Equally fulfilling is the opportunity to develop and support the educators and leaders who care for those children every day. Pouring into my team, helping them grow professionally, and creating a culture where they feel valued and inspired allows that care to ripple outward to families, and that’s something I’m deeply passionate about.

Are you involved with any non-profits or do any volunteering?
I’m incredibly fortunate to work for The Gardner School, where giving back is a core value and something I get to participate in through the work we do every day. From organizing and participating in donation drives for essential items like diapers, formula, coats, and canned food, to partnering with organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the impact is truly meaningful. This past summer, we had the honor of hosting a send-off party for the sweetest little boy, and experiences like that remind me how special it is to work for a company that genuinely prioritizes community, compassion, and making a difference.

What do you find to be the toughest part about being a working mom?
The toughest part is the constant balancing act—wanting to give 100% at work while also being fully present at home. Mom guilt can creep in easily, but I’ve learned to give myself grace and remember that showing up with intention matters more than perfection.

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
“Trust your instincts.” There will always be opinions and advice, but no one knows your child the way you do.

What is your best advice for a new mom?
Give yourself grace. You don’t have to have it all figured out, and it’s okay to ask for help. Every phase is temporary, even the hard ones.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
People are often surprised to learn that I recently started a junk journal club called Scrap & Yap. It’s a creative outlet that combines crafting, connection, and conversation—and it’s quickly become one of my favorite ways to unwind and build community outside of work.

Is there a Quote or mantra you live by?
“Progress over perfection.” It’s a reminder I come back to often, both inmotherhood and in leadership.

Anything else you’d love to share?
What I love most about The Gardner School is that it’s truly a community. From the educators who pour their hearts into their classrooms, to the families who trust us with their children, there’s a shared commitment to growth, connection, and care. Being part of a school that values both excellence in education and compassion for families is something I don’t take for granted. For families who may be exploring early education options, we’re always happy to connect and share more about what makes our school special.
