Meet a Mom: Nicole Minahan, Owner of Patton Pilates - South Shore Moms
This week’s “Meet a Mom” feature highlights Nicole Minahan, the powerhouse behind Patton Pilates, located right in Hingham Center.
Nicole recently moved to Hingham about a year ago and has opened her own studio. On top of this demanding venture, she is also raising her nine-month-old daughter, Blaire. Prior to settling here, Nicole lived and taught in Boston after pursuing her certification.
Patton Pilates offers a reformer pilates workout with an athletic approach. Nicole’s classes are designed around high repetitions, utilize a variety of props, and deliver a lot of power, ensuring that classes are both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
What makes Patton Pilates truly stand out is the intentionally small class size—there are only four reformers. This intimate setting fosters a strong sense of community and guarantees that Nicole can provide individualized attention, ensuring you are executing every movement correctly. Continue reading to learn more about Nicole and her favorite aspects of owning her own studio.

Where are you from originally?
I grew up in Barrington, RI!

Tell us about your family! How many kids, names/ages?
My husband, Brayden, and I have one 9 month old girl! Her name is Blaire.

How did you start your business?
In 2020, I pursued my Balanced Body Pilates certification and began teaching at
several studios around Boston. After gaining valuable experience, I decided to
invest in my own reformer and started Patton Pilates. I taught private reformer
sessions alongside my 9-5 job and organized many mat pilates events throughout
the city.

We moved to Hingham while I was pregnant, and a few months after Blaire was
born, I began searching for commercial space to open a studio, fully committed
to pilates as my full-time career. I was fortunate to find the perfect spot right in
Hingham Square!

Where do you now call home and how long have you lived there?
We moved to Hingham last October, so it’s been over a year now!

What is your favorite part about living in the South Shore?
We love being close to the water and not too far from the city. Both my husband
and I grew up in coastal towns.

What family activity do you enjoy most?
We love taking the boat into the city with Blaire to visit our old stomping
grounds!

What is your favorite part about the work you do?
I fell in love with pilates reformer workouts because of how they made me feel
physically and mentally. I love the challenge of the slow, controlled movements. I
often hear clients saying they feel so much better when they leave class than
when they walked in. The mental benefits of pilates are just as profound as the
physical ones.

Secondly, one of my favorite parts is helping prenatal or postpartum moms on
their journey. Pilates has such great benefits throughout pregnancy, and for
recovery after giving birth!

What do you find to be the toughest part about being a working mom?
The hardest part is finding time to balance it all! I am always thinking about the
studio and how I can make it the best possible experience for everyone. That
said, I try to remind myself to put my phone away when I get home from
teaching and really be present with Blaire. Client emails and class planning can
wait!

What is your best advice for a new mom?
Continue pursuing what you love. Being a mom is the most rewarding yet
challenging job. Having an outlet for something you’re passionate about will
make you a better mom at home. I was initially worried that motherhood would
prevent me from following my dreams and teaching again, but that couldn’t
further from the truth!

Is there a Quote or mantra you live by?
If you have a dream, take one small step a day to work towards it. Send the
email, make the phone call, book the meeting. There is no perfect time for
anything and you are never going to feel like you have all the information you
need so it’s always going to feel scary, but take the leap!

Be sure to sign up for class !
