Meet a Mom: Paula Wise, Founder of Sampleit - South Shore Moms
This week’s “Meet a Mom” features Paula Wise, the founder of Sampleit! While Paula lives in Needham, she’s a frequent visitor to the South Shore. Many of you may have already seen my two children and me trying out Sampleit’s better-for-you snack box for kids on our Instagram.
Paula, a mom of two and three cats, started Sampleit because she’s passionate about making healthy snacking easier and more enjoyable. After her own health journey in 2021, she recognized a gap in the market: a lack of convenient ways for parents to introduce healthier snack options to their children. This led her to create Sampleit, driven by a mission to help parents discover nutritious snacks that their kids will genuinely love.
Keep reading to learn more about Paula, her favorite South Shore spots, and the best parenting advice she’s received.

Where are you from originally?

Swampscott, MA

Tell us about your family! How many kids, names/ages?

My husband, Greg, is from Sharon. We have two kids—Max is 8 and in 3rd grade, and our daughter Maddyn (we call her Maddie) is 6 and in 1st grade.

How did you start your business?

I became deeply passionate about nutrition and the impact food has on our health after going through my own personal health journey. I wanted to help my kids eat better too—but I kept running into the same problem: I’d buy healthier snacks with clean ingredients, bring them home, and then they wouldn’t like them. It was frustrating and wasteful—not to mention expensive.

I kept thinking: who wants to spend $8 on a box of cereal just to have their kid take one bite and say “no thanks”? I realized there was a gap in the market—there was no easy, affordable, or accessible way for parents to sample healthier snack options with their kids first. That’s how the idea for Sampleit was born.

Where do you now call home and how long have you lived there?

We live in Needham and absolutely love it. We moved here in 2019.

What is your favorite part about visiting the South Shore?

I love the drive-on beach in Duxbury, we have some friends who live on the South Shore.

What family activity do you enjoy most?

Recently we have been going on bike rides all together. It’s a new thing for us and so much fun. I love doing anything active

What is your favorite part about the work you do?

When parents tell me their kids loved something in the box that they had never even heard of before—that’s the best feeling. I know I helped them discover something new without the waste or stress. I also love knowing I’m helping normalize healthier snacks as the default, not the exception.

Plus, my kids are involved in the process. They see me building a business while being a mom, and they’re learning about nutrition and healthier choices along the way.

Are you involved with any non-profits or do any volunteering?

Not currently but would like to get involved with the Nutrition committee at my children’s elementary school.

What do you find to be the toughest part about being a working mom?

Forcing myself to switch out of work mode, even if a task isn’t finished—because at the end of the day, being a mom comes first.

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?

We’re human. We all mess up. The recovery is what matters most.

What is your best advice for a new mom?

Start healthy habits early—especially with food. I wish I had started sooner when my kids were babies!

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

I’m a total cat lady—haha! I have three cats and I’m obsessed. Though if you follow me on Instagram, you probably already knew that.

Is there a Quote or mantra you live by?

“Let them.” I love Mel Robbins’ Let Them theory

Your go-to Pandora/Spotify/Apple Music station?

90s music, all the way.
