Meet Erica | South Shore Moms

Do you remember when The South Shore Moms was on South Shore Live? Well, not only was that super fun but we got to meet this lovely mama. If you haven’t tuned into the show, you should! Erica is such a breath of fresh air. She was born in New York and grew up in Michigan. She lives in Hingham with her three girls (Katie 13, Charlotte 11, and Madeleine 8) and has been on the South Shore for 6 years.

What is your favorite thing about living in Hingham?
The people and the water!

What do you love to do with your kids around town?
Eating cookies by the Meeting House Pond in Cohasset; taking pictures in front of the big anchor at the Shipyard; going to Sandy Beach in the fall/winter.

Do you have a favorite local seasonal activity?
Going to any pumpkin patch in fall and ice skating in the winter.

Favorite family friendly restaurant in the area?
Does Nona’s ice cream count as a restaurant?

Could you share a kid-friendly / family favorite recipe?
Porcupine meatballs!  Meatballs rolled in dry rice then cooked with broth and tomato sauce and it puffs up and they look like porcupines.

Do you have a favorite local store, fitness class or restaurant and why?
I love yoga classes with Bev Bielewicz. She teaches at several locations and also on the beach!

What is your favorite moment/memory as a mom to date?
I can’t choose just one!

What is the toughest part about being a mom?
When you want quiet and you’re just not going to get it.

What is the best advice you have received as a mom?
If at the end of the day your kids are clean and fed and in one piece, you have done a great job.

What is the best advice you would like to give to a new mom?
Don’t be too hard on yourself – see above!

What is one thing you never leave the house without?
Mints

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I love to sew and I make lots of crooked pillows and curtains.

What do you do for work now or what did you do before having kids?
I am a tutor for French and writing, and also am a lawyer/mediator, and I also am the editor-in-chief of South Shore Magazine and do the radio show affiliated with it called South Shore Live! on 95.9 WATD.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or otherwise?
I am in the League of Women Voters and have a mediating/law business and a tutoring business.

Where do you love to shop (for kids or yourself)?
I like Ports & Co. in Cohasset for my older girls and me.

Favorite must have product for kids?
Hydrolatum cream for dry hands in the winter.
