Jillian has lived on the South Shore her whole life. She lived in the Minot area of Scituate until she was 5 and then grew up in Marshfield. After ten years of renting in Plymouth, she and her husband bought their first home in Marshfield in 2015. Jillian has a daughter, Giovanna, who is 20 months old.
What is your favorite thing about living here?
My favorite thing about living on the South Shore is being in a cozy suburban community with close proximity to Boston. It’s the best of both worlds.
What do you love to do with your kids around town?
Marshfield has such a great playground (next to the library), I feel like we could go there every day and Giovanna wouldn’t get bored. I also like finding wide, paved walking trails like Bare Cove in Hingham – perfect for a stroller, and dog-friendly!
Do you have a favorite local store, fitness class or restaurant and why?
I haven’t been since before Giovanna was born, but Secret Physique’s barre class is amazing! I keep saying I’m going to carve out some ‘me time’ and get back to it. It’s a great fusion of ballet, yoga, and pilates moves that makes your muscles long and lean; I miss the great stretching!
What is your favorite moment/memory as a mom to date?
I’m sure every mom can relate when I say I can’t possibly pick just one favorite moment — Giovanna is still growing and changing every day, cracking me up and blowing me away with her newfound knowledge and skills. But there is NOTHING quite like holding that little {or big; mine was over 9 lbs!} baby in your arms for the first time and just thinking “Oh, wow. You’re a PERSON.” My mind is still boggled sometimes with the notion that my body created an actual human.
What is the toughest part about being a mom?
Always needing to be “on”. There’s no clocking out and while it’s wonderful, it can also be exhausting.
What is the best advice you would like to give to a new mom?
Take all {at least most} of the advice you’ll get and toss it right out the window. Your baby is YOUR baby, and your instinct and intuition is powerful.
What do you do for work now or what did you do before having kids?
Seasonally, I’ve been helping to run Sauchuk’s Corn Maze since 2013. All day, every day, year-round, though, I am head-over-heels in love with running my Young Living business. Isn’t the network marketing business format PERFECT for moms?! It’s so amazing to find something that you’re passionate about {for me, eliminating chemicals and toxins from my home and replacing them with more natural alternatives that I feel good about} and then figure out how to create a business around just that. I’m always down to support other hustling mamas too — I’d much rather see my money go towards a local mom and her family than a corporate CEO somewhere.
What is one thing you never leave the house without?
Thieves Hand Sanitizer…it’s a dirty world out there!
Where do you love to shop (for kids or yourself)?
Etsy is a wonderful, fabulous, dangerous black hole of amazingness. Half of Giovanna’s first-year wardrobe came from an Etsy shop called Belles and Beaus Shop, and I find her cute moccs all over Etsy for half the price of the well-known brands. Plus I can order myself party invites, home décor, and business supplies — one-stop shopping!
Favorite must have product for moms?
Chocolate…isn’t the answer always chocolate? {More specifically, Ben & Jerry’s Boom-Chocolatta Cookie Core. You can thank me later}
Favorite must have product for kids?
Tummygize oil! A LIFE-SAVER and game-changer when my little one is dealing with any kind of tummy troubles.
