Meet the Owner: Rick | South Shore Moms

Rick Warren is the owner of Insuring Income, a company that is all about helping consumers to find the best options for life and disability insurance. Rick was born and raised in Rochester, NY and lived in Wilmington, NC for about ten years before life brought him to the Boston area in 2011. His son, Caleb, is 8 years old.

What is your favorite thing about the Boston area?
I love the area and the diversity of things to do.

What do you like to do with your son around town?
We go to the Science Museum and he loves bounce houses, playgrounds and pretty much anywhere that has video games!

What is your favorite moment/memory as a dad to date?
The very first time Caleb looked at me, unprompted and said, “I just love you so much, daddy” then gave me the biggest hug.  It was literally for no external reason while we were in the living room. Will never forget that.

How did you get involved with Insuring Income?
My business partner and I created Insuring Income almost 6 years ago and launched it formally a little over 4 years ago.  We were both already in the insurance business and wanted a model of business that was more independent, objective, efficient, and client-focused than what the industry overall was presenting. We believe in transparency and helping people to know their options first, insurance sales second.

What is something people may not know about Life Insurance?
There are dozens and dozens (and dozens…) of insurance carriers out there that will serve them well, are financially strong, and reasonably priced.  Any insurance agent someone works with should be showing “the marketplace”, not just a single company.

Also, probably 99% of carriers have electronic applications – no more sifting through 47 pages of mind-numbing insurance paperwork. The process to start an application takes about 10 minutes and can be done from a tablet, phone, laptop, etc. at the convenience of their schedule.

Are you involved in anything else within the community?
Running this company as Managing Partner, and a few other irons in the fire, keep me pretty busy but I do manage to get out to network, Chamber functions, etc.  It’s a great way to meet a terrific mix of people.  I generally forget to even talk about insurance because people have such great stories – love to hear people talk about the things they are passionate about.  And, let’s face it… it’s rare that someone wants to stand and talk about insurance. 😉

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I once had the opportunity to pet and spend some time with an adult Siberian tiger named Tessa. When that “kitty” purrs it is a whole different sound… you aren’t ever really sure if you are doing something that makes them happy or hungry.

Rick, thank you so much for speaking with us and for launching our “Meet the Owner” series! To learn more about Insuring Income or to get a quote, be sure to visit their website.
