Every year since this horrible tragedy, I spend time watching the same 9/11 documentaries, reflecting on what happened. I say a prayer for the souls we lost and for their families. Yes, we have moved on from that horrific morning, but we can never forget what happened. On a recent trip, my 6 year old was randomly selected at airport security for further searching. This caused an incredible amount of anxiety in her that I was not prepared for. As I tried to keep her calm and tell her this happens to everyone at some point, she didn’t understand what “she did wrong” to get the search. I wanted to tell her the reason why airport security is rigorous, but I refrained and simply said you did nothing wrong, it’s what we have to do when we travel. Our world has changed since that day, for so many reasons. But when times are tough, and when perhaps we don’t all see eye to eye, let’s remember those incredible feelings of love, unity and pride we all felt on September 12 and beyond. ❤️ xoxo K
