Street Tacos | South Shore Moms

One thing I miss dearly about living in a city is the FOOD. We have been craving some good Mexican food at my house. Please share the best of what’s around with us! Mama wants some tacos. In the meantime, whip out your slow cookers, and try this DELISH recipe! A huge hit! So much so…. I made it twice in one week.

{Ingredients}

  • 2 lbs carne asada meat or flank steak (however your grocer labels it)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup cilantro , chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbs honey
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Small fajita or street taco tortillas
  • Pico de gallo
  • Cilantro
  • Queso fresco *Substituted with Feta. Come on, South Shore.. Where’s the Queso?

 

 

{For the Garlic Lime Sauce}

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic , minced
  • 2 Tbs lime juice
  • 2 tsp lime zest

 

 

{Instructions}
  1. Place your steak in bottom of crock pot.
  2. In bowl mi together your olive oil, orange juice, worcestershire sauce, cilantro, garlic, honey, chili powder and cumin and stir until blended.
  3. Pour over your meat and stir around slightly to distribute.
  4. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours or until tender and meat shreds easily.
  5. To make sauce combine all ingredients in small bowl and whisk to combine.
  6. To assemble tacos, place meat on bottom of your tortilla and top with the garlic lime sauce, pico de gallo, cheese and cilantro.
