Happy Weekend! Can you believe the last week of May is here?! Enjoy your Memorial Day!

“Never so much owed by so many few” Winston Churchill

The South Shore has a plethora of family activities for this weekends Memorial Day! Check it out on our calendar!

Were you able to meet all of our fantastic moms and our TSSM Intern that have been featured?!

Meet The Eco Mamas!

Meet Colleen & Gillian. The moms behind The Eco Mamas Blog. Colleen is originally from the north shore of Chicago and Gillian grew up in Cohasset. These beautiful ladies live with their families in Cohasset.

Colleen has three boys, ages 6, 4 and 10 months and Gillian has a two year old and a 10 month old as well.

Check out this great Meet a Mom(s) Post to see what they’ve been up to here!

Meet Karolina Kurkova: Supermodel Mama-Turned Entrepreneur

Over the last few decades, Karolina Kurkova has made a name for herself with a hugely successful modeling career. Her resume includes highlights such as twenty-five Vogue magazine covers, being named a Victoria’s Secret Angel and completing massive campaigns with fashion industry heavyweights like Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton. But while everyone was focused on her glamorous outward appearance, it turns out that she’s always been about what’s on the inside, rather than out. “I’ve always preferred a more natural approach to beauty and wellness—it’s not just about products,” says Kurkova, who is now a mother to two boys, ages 3 and 9.

Meet Soli: The South Shore Mom’s Intern

Soli is originally from Hanover, Massachusetts. She has one little brother (although he’s not that little anymore as he’s taller than her)! Not so little Maverick is now 14 and they are very close. Maverick loves the outdoors, especially mountain biking! Soli and her family have been on the South Shore area for 25 years. Her parents grew up in Marshfield. Soli’ favorite thing about living here is being so close to the beach. You can usually find her there any season as she loves the ocean. Soli also loves to go on family hikes with their two dogs, Duke and Buster. There are many trails on the South Shore that they love to explore. Soli also loves to visit Hornstra Farm for ice cream and will be working there part-time this summer. Stop by and visit her there for a scoop or two!

Memorial Day Festivities

Arts and Crafts

Visit Lil’ Luna to make this adorable tissue flag. It is engaging, super cute and helps kids work on their fine motor skills.

Make a big breakfast and then make use of that empty egg carton. Grab some paint and the kids will proudly show off their Crafty Morning egg carton American flag.

How cute is this Fun Loving Families stars and stripes paper bag kite? It’s easy to do and perfect to keep around until the 4th of July.

these yummy eats from various sources are the perfect way to set your potluck dish apart from any other at your Memorial Day Cookout!

Incase you Missed…

Happiest Baby on the Block author Harvey Karp on The Mistakes Most Toddler Parents Make

Toddlers are cavemen. If you’re reading this and are actually parenting a toddler, you probably don’t need further explanation. You’re familiar with the grunting, the lack of table manners, the random tantrums and general refusal to express emotions in a civilized way. See? Total caveman territory. Parenting guru Harvey Karp, who wrote Happiest Toddler On the Block as a follow up to his first bestselling book, Happiest Baby on the Block, uses this comparison as the basis for his popular techniques. We spoke to Dr. Karp about the six missteps he sees parents to toddlers making—and how to correct them in order to have a happier toddler (and as a result, home/marriage/life!).

Obsessed with Honey? So are we!

Beekeeper’s Naturals: Harnessing the Power of The Bee Hive

If you’re like us, you’ve been hearing about the benefits of honey—and more specifically, propolis—for awhile. And who isn’t always looking for ways to keep their family healthy? We spoke to Carly Stein, who created Beekeeper’s Naturals, about her new brand, which includes innovative products like throat spray, raw honey blended with hemp oil, and raw bee pollen. She shares the story behind Beekeeper’s, the benefits of propolis and more.

Did Someone Say Tacos?!

Check out this amazing Turkey Taco-Stuffed Pepper Recipe from Whole30 CEO!

Click Here for the Full Recipe as well as the link to our interview with Melissa!

Anyone else feel like they’re constantly working to find easy recipes that the whole family will not only eat, but love? Taco Tuesday is always a crowd pleaser, even in Melissa Hartwig Urban’s house. We spoke to the Whole30 CEO about her favorite spin on turkey tacos (recipe below!). Says Melissa: “Taco Tuesday is a beloved family tradition, but on the Whole30, corn tortillas, chips, and cheese are out. We’ve created a Whole30-friendly version that parents and kids alike will love. Ground meat mixed with salsa and seasoning sits in a bell pepper cup instead of a taco shell, making these “tacos” colorful and nutritious,” says Melissa. The best part? These can be easily customized, from ramping up the spice for adventurous kids or using mild salsa for younger palates, serving with a side of guacamole or pan-friend plantains and drizzling with (Whole30-approved) Tessemae‘s Buffalo, Habanero, or Cilantro-Lime Ranch.
